Emergency Preparedness Program
For People with Disabilities and Others with Access and Functional Needs
Planning for emergencies and disasters is an important part of taking care of yourself and those around you. Emergencies and disasters can strike quickly and without warning. Having an emergency preparedness plan, emergency supply kit, and a Support Network can reduce the fear and anxiety that accompany emergencies and disasters.
Emergency Preparedness Manual's Alternative Formats
The following alternative formats contain different editions of the City of Los Angeles Department on Disability booklet, "Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities and Others With Access and Functional Needs."
The Audio Format contains mp3 audio files for each section of the English and Spanish editions of the booklet respectively. These folders also contain an .m3u playlist file: "Emergency Manual English Audio.m3u" and "Emergency Manual Spanish Audio.m3u" which will play the entire document in order on supported players like "Windows Media Player" and allow sections to be skipped.
The DAISY folders may be directly copied into the appropriate storage folder of a hardware talking book player such as Victor Reader Stream or opened in a software player such as the Free Easy Reader app which can be downloaded from the following link https://yourdolphin.com/easyreader/windows/download. The DAISY feature synchronized text and audio narration and may be navigated by section, subsection, or page number using supported players.
