DMD is a nationwide effort that promotes career development for students and job seekers with disabilities through hands-on career exploration. In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, this prominent event will take place at City Hall on [Day, Month Date, Year]. DMD began in 1999 with fewer than three-dozen student participants as part of a White House effort to increase the profile of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Persons with disabilities (mentees) are matched with workplace mentors according to career interests. Mentees experience a typical day on the job while employers gain an increased awareness that people with disabilities represent an overlooked talent pool. DMD [Year] had thousands of participants in over a dozen countries and 250 U.S. locations.
